Photo Flash: EVIL DEAD: THE MUSICAL at Country Playhouse

In that all-too-familiar remote cabin in the woods, a group of hapless teenagers fall prey to dark forces and become, one by one, charismatic singers and dancers who bring down the house with splatter-drenched production numbers that spill over, literally, into the first few rows of the audience. Wear old clothes (we'll provide ponchos) and scream all you want!

Gene Kato directs, with Jonathan Moonen, Jamie Betik, Jake Bevill, Tom Stell, Jessica Bowman Rohe, Rebeccah Bauerlein, Marc C. Connelly, and Bryan Maynard.

Born in Canada in 2003, opening Off-Broadway in 2006 and subsequently infiltrating the country from Minneapolis and Toledo to Las Vegas, then on to Japan and Korea, Evil Dead: The Musical freely spoofs director Sam Raimi's 1980s horror films, to become a cult classic in its own right, echoing The Rocky Horror Show's midnight call to campy carnage and revelry. All as foretold in an ancient volume of prophecy, "The Necronomicon" [The Book of the Dead]. Dig it.

Ticket prices are $28 for adults, or $25 for students and seniors. As a special monster deal, see Frankenstein and Evil Dead on the same night for $35 (or $30), if purchased together.
