The Syracuse University Department of Drama packs three musicals, a wild comedy, a classic Shaw, and a never-before-produced contemporary comedy into a season full of surprises and infrequently performed theatrical gems. Beginning with the musical Nine, the 2016/2017 season includes Laura and the Sea, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins (co-produced with Syracuse Stage), The King Stag, Major Barbara, and From Berlin to Broadway With Kurt Weill: A Musical Voyage.

Miller Theatre inaugurates a new holiday tradition, a playful production that brings to life Saint-Saens' musical 'salute to feathers, fur, and fins' - CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS. A modern twist on Victorian toy theater, this imaginative staging combines music, scenic elements, puppetry, and movement, plus the clever verses of Ogden Nash. Curtain-raisers from the 16th Century to present-day set the stage and kindle the spirit of the holidays. Just about an hour in length, this family-friendly presentation is the perfect December treat to delight imaginative audiences of all ages.

Birdland was abuzz this past Thursday night in celebration of Barbara Fasano's fresh-off-the-press CD, Busy Being Free. Industry types table-hopped among civilians--they know a good thing when they hear it--as anticipation swelled. Gift wrapped in tapestry blue, Fasano was accompanied by three of the six excellent musicians on her recording: Musical Director/Pianist/Arranger John di Martino, with Boris Koslov on bass, and Vince Cherico on drums.

Pontine Theatre Receives $3K Grant from The Jack & Dorothy Byrne Foundation

?Pontine Theatre has been awarded a $3,000 grant from the Jack & Dorothy Byrne Foundation to tour scenes from its original production, New England Christmas, to eighteen assisted and independent living communities for seniors located throughout New England. Pontine Theatre presents it's original production, A New England Christmas, featuring original stagings of seasonal stories by three New England authors. Pontine's Artistic Directors, Marguerite Mathews and Greg Gathers, perform Christmas 1910 by Gladys Hasty Carroll, The Christmas That Almost Wasn't by Ogden Nash, and The Christmas Monks by Mary Wilkins Freeman.
